Don't think it is possible to compare murder trials in states with and without the death penalty.

It has to be a weight on each juror.

And no, they could not have found her guilty of manslaughter.

I think the baby died exactly as the prosecutors described.

Premeditated and cold blooded.

It was murder 1 or nothing.

Because of the specter of the death penalty, she got nothing.

Justice denied because of the potential for medieval punishment.

Mother's accused of killing their children have not fared well over all in the South, I don't know about other places. Anthony seems to be an exception. color has not entered into it... a mother stands lil chance if they think for any reason that she did it.
