many things influence "ignores and peoplemarks" namely:
---length of time a person has been a member
---quantity of posts over the years
---political posses who go after those whose politics they agree or don't agree with
and other things that are not evident to those wanting to have a cut off.

In my opinion all of these should be reset at year end to zero

There are many good reasons for this not the least of which is many no longer are members. The other main reason is that a persons politics changes and so they shouldn't be cut of of boards forever that they now would like to post to. Same with ignores on other threads because of personality differences. Also people grow, have regrets, learn and present better information than in previous years. I can't name all the reasons but resetting everything to zero once a year clears up a lot of problems with lifetime bans from posting on threads. I think SI would attract a better more moral crowd if there was a forgiveness feature once a year.

It should also strongly be against SI rules to form posses and send PMs to others to get them to put people they don't like on ignore or even ban them just to make them look bad or try to damage their credibility.

I really don't think that we need Big Brother Brad to decide what our peoplemarks need to be..

It seems like this is more geared toward the "hot members" ratings....I think that me having the ability to define who I want to follow is more important than the hot members popularity contest.

sure, go ahead and reset the popularity contest every year, but don't mess with my peoplemarks and ignores.
