Spammers are not a problem on SI. Never have been!

And never will be!

Spam is easy to control. New "Free" members are only allowed 5 posts/day, so that alone caps out the spam pretty quickly. We can tighten down that loophole further if we ever need to. Back in the 90's people couldn't post AT ALL without paying a lifetime fee. That made spam impossible (or at least expensive!)

Also 24/7/365 will become a reality if I hire someone in Europe to watch the TOU queue...or another option is to disallow "Free" posting between midnight and 6am while the admins are asleep. Most spam gets zapped -- and accounts canceled -- before anyone sees it. Why the spammers still waste their time on this site is beyond me.

It's safe to say that Mods deleting posts on investment boards will NEVER happen here, so we can put that issue to rest. Banning is still up in the air (but likely to stay for the foreseeable future).
