The gray color applies to links that have already been visited (presumably you no longer need to read them), or in the case of Messages like this one, I grayed out the name of the "TO" person so that it is easier to distinguish the FROM person. Previously, it was confusing (at least with peripheral vision) as to which of the people authored the message. I will work on creating a setting that strips away SI's link coloring altogether so you can have the bright blue and colored visited links that the browser defaults to...it will look ugly as heck, but if you really want it, who am I to argue with the customer!
