The workers and the union are not synonymous. Placing the blame on the unions is not identical to blaming the workers. I wouldn't rule out blaming the workers as workers, but I haven't done that. And if the management failed by giving in to union demands, the union is still to blame for making demands that where not in the long term interest of keeping the company a going concern. One might blame management more for this, since they are supposed to look out for the interest of the company, but even if you do that, both are to blame.
