Brains can't just sit transfixed on nothing. Not for long anyway and that in itself is dangerous when driving cars. The bossy people and those who can't chew gum, drive and chat to somebody on a phone can't understand that. When it takes all their brain power to simply keep the car going more or less in the right direction, they think other people are like them and should be banned from using cellphones, eating breakfast, reading the newspaper at traffic lights, tuning the radio, talking to passengers and otherwise using spare capacity. My favourite absurdity is the 80 kph speed limit on motorways, or 100 kph where there is not a bend for kilometres and 160 kph would be a reasonable speed, depending on the car, but no speed limit on twisty windy little country roads, up hill and down dale. Well, there is a speed limit but it's 100 kph, which is the same as making it the speed of light. On many roads, it's not possible to do 40 kph let alone 100 kph, so people drive as fast as they think is safe. Some people not used to having to actually think while driving, having been taught by the authorities that driving is a mind-free activity, go berserk and crash off the road into a ditch, tree, or bridge abutment. In general, it's illegal to think in the "free" world. Some government official takes care of everything. What you can pay for a house, whether you are allowed a loan, what interest rate it should be, whether you are allowed to cut down a tree, or do pretty well anything. And they tell you what you must do too. If it isn't forbidden, it's compulsory. Mqurice
