Dave, you are hopelessly confused. Its not the gov't whose telling you that hydrofracking is bad........its private groups that have sprung up because of the problems they have experienced from hydrofracking. I will admit its not conclusive that hydrofracking is bad but there is enough negative evidence that suggests it needs to be monitored very closely. In fact, any time an industry deals with toxic chemicals they should be monitored closely. And that's true even when the materials are of a more natural origin.......see the Gulf oil spill of last summer.

In fact that's all the environmental advocate said in the 60min piece, which I found quite balanced, despite dave's characterization.

Ted, > Again.....you all are like children and don't want limits placed on you.

The Nanny State mentality starts from the assumption you just made.

Conservatives would rather treat citizens like responsible adults.

Sometimes the whims of an individual have to be curtailed for the common good. Its why we have traffic lites. There are people who do not want to be stopped artificially by some lite. They would rather stop and go as they see fit.

Nobody is debating whether government needs to be involved in these things (the federal government certainly does not, but state & local, fine). The question is whether the federal government should be micromanaging our lives.

>> you all are like children and don't want limits placed on you.

We're adults and we don't NEED limits placed on us. Al Gore and RFK Jr don't have -- they jet around all over the country without limitation. Why in HELL should we abide by differerent rules than THEY do?

>>> ts not the gov't whose telling you that hydrofracking is bad........its private groups that have sprung up because of the problems they have experienced from hydrofracking

To be fair, Obama isn't the problem with fracking, others within government are (mostly at state/local levels). But this is a perfect example of Obama's failure to lead on this issue.

Fracking has been shown to be safe. There isn't any doubt about it. The Left got all ginned up about it based on the Michael-Moore-styled documentary Gasland, which was chocked full off lies and misleading propaganda.

Why hasn't Obama come out and said, "Fracking is a SOLUTION to our foreign oil dependence"? Why hasn't the administration EMBRACED this proven technology rather than embracing it from a distance (we want to drill for gas, but no mention that fracking is key to the process -- because it will piss off his uninformed liberal base).

We need leadership, not politics and spinelessness.
