I suppose he could just pass the message along through the Bible and through the church. Can't get any less "dramatic" than that.

Let's put it this way. If the survivors of a tragedy go on to live better, more fulfilling, and more humble lives (as they should), wouldn't that be nice for society as a whole, even if they give credit to some unseen being?

Maybe there are societal benefits to this faith thing. Even if it's not your cup of tea. And it sure is better than shaking your fist at God for not saving more victims.
