General Comment ..

I assume that most of the board participants are here because they
are in general agreement that ownership of common stocks characterized
by a long term history of increasing dividend payouts is a viable
and desirable way to provide a secure and growing retirement income ..

Having said that, there are several variables for consideration in achieving
the goal .. Personally, I don't believe that there is "one" right approach as
everyone has their own set of circumstances and objectives and that is why
I enjoy frequenting this particular board ..

Some participants invest via tax deferred vehicles
Some participants invest via non tax sheltered accounts
Some participants utilize fundamental analysis
Some participants favor technical analysis
Some participants utilize option sales for added income or hedging
Some participants utilize ETFs for hedging or investing
Some participants harvest capital gains along the way
Some participants are compounding their dividends in additional shares
Some participants are harvesting the dividends to pay living expenses
Some participants are filling out their portfolio positions
Some participants are managing fully funded portfolios
Some participants invest in MLPs, ADRs and other non traditional vehicles
Some participants invest in domestic equities exclusively

Anyway .. IMHO it's all good !!

Triff ..

Re: COP ... What a bummer. Although I own COP, I was going to add it to my Son's portfolio, but not now. Price has run up too far for me to chase after this one.

My plan, for now, is to hold both companies, provided they both will pay a dividend.
