<as always, a good post,>

Thanks

<..if a little paranoid.>

Who is it that survives?

<.. i do not buy the assertion that the RBOCs do not know how to get around the problems in a short period of time. >

Well, field engineers at GTE have told me tracing down bridge taps can be a real challenge. Even ADSL testing equipment like Fluke's won't tell you WHERE on a line the taps or load coils are.

A guy researching this in BellSouth territory, posted on the NOVL thread that he was told there are an average of 19 bridge taps per line. And there is no getting ADSL to work than to get rid of bridge taps and load coils. And this is in addition to any degradation problems which are the result of ageing copper. So I would caution you to not presume that that the RBOCs can easily fix their copper problems for ADSL.

Just my perspective.
