Elm, really, give it up. Your interpretation of American history, i.e., the Founding Fathers as the equivalent of Khomeini for their religious intolerance, is a bit off.

The Puritans were indeed puritanical but they did not have nearly as much influence into the construction of America as you think they did. The founding of America as a republic is a marvelous history, you should get better acquainted with it.
