>> Well, duh. And nothing gives consumer more confidence than having a well-paying, stable job. Nothing else comes anywhere close.

Nothing destroys jobs faster a bloated, intrusive government.

But it is a question of which comes first. You can't have jobs until ceos believe the economy is turning around. CEOs cannot reasonably be expected to believe this when the government is on an idiotic spending binge in a futile effort to prop up the economy.

It is crystal clear that what is needed is for our government to get the budget straightened out so there is a clear path to fiscal responsibility. Enactment of deep budget cuts designed to show the world and its business leaders that we can repay our debts would be a huge shot in the arm for the economy. This is 100% on the Republicans because the Democrats certainly are not going to do it.

If the Republicans can put us on a trajectory to eliminate the deficit in 10 years and start repaying debt, that will be enough to turn the economy around IMO.
