The important point is it sets a precedent.

This comes from the People's House and the people elected them to stop the out of control D spending. If the people are not happy with the D's participation they will remove even more of them next election. Obama's number is already up.

The Rs are using their leverage to force the Ds to agree to huge budget cuts

900B over ten years is huge? The teabaggers have squandered a terrific opportunity...and they are taking a beating in the PR department, which plays to their longevity...you've heard of the teaper moron that wanted to reduce the debt limit?

$900B now and forcing them to revisit it in a few months is just fine.

That part of the proposal is not sure to pass at all...i would not be surprised to see the repugs cave on the 2013 issue...

Al

You people are so confused. This process is working precisely as it should. The Rs are using their leverage to force the Ds to agree to huge budget cuts because Congress has been out of control for too long.

1 trillion over ten years is virtually meaningless when faced with a 20+ trillion dollar deficit 10 years hence.
Unfortunately.....I think the Republicans have to pass Boehmer's bill . If the Dem can't pass the Reid bill, Obama will have to accept Boehmer's bill. If the Democrats pass Reid's bill, The Reps should ONLY agree on 4+Trillion in savings (no new revenue beyond that already agreed)) and savings to start immediately over ten years in exchange for the extension of the deal beyond the election. That's the price Obama will have to pay.
