I sincerely hope that Fergus Cullen is a gasbag who is guessing wrong about Rick Perry's intentions.....If he enters the Presidential race, I want, and believe, that he will see it through....Hopefully, to the Oval Office. We need someone with a depth of keel....even the saviest person in the entire country will have a very difficult time dealing with the huge disaster that has been created by Dem controlled Congess'es over the years, and of course, the whole last 2 3/4 year fiasco.

If the campaign is about the Texas economy, Perry can do well. If it’s about Perry’s evangelicalism — in April, Perry issued an official state proclamation calling for three days of prayer for rain to end a Texas drought — he could turn off New Hampshire’s largely secular electorate. That's been an ongoing problem with too many fiscally conservative politicians. They're easy for the left to paint as religious wackos, which scares off many independent voters. For just one example, the main reason that Harry Reid got re-elected was that Sharron Angle was portrayed as a holy roller screwball. Her limited government message got lost and we got saddled with Dingy Harry as a result. If Perry gets the GOP nomination and the MSM succeeds in tarring him as a religious fanatic nutcase, then Obama skates in for another 4 years and we'll be living with the consequences. Under no circumstances can this country afford that.. As a secular libertarian, I wish that fiscally conservative politicians, especially, would concentrate on public policy issues and keep their prayers and religion as private matters. All the prayers in the world won't matter if the country descends into bankruptcy and social chaos. The socialist/fascist/statist left must be defeated if this country is to have any kind of prosperous future..
