Good points. I know the Leaf delayed their rollout by a year to my area. They said it was to perfect the production line. But the car I will buy now has a few more options like a battery heater that now come standard...along with a higher price tag.

So you could very well be right about them keeping supply low deliberately until they can find the right price point that the market will bear, so they can be more profitable. At $38K, before tax breaks, I have to believe they will make a profit. The battery has been broken down and the costs of the components tallied and it comes to around $10K. The rest of the car is pretty standard fare. So I'm pretty sure they are making a profit at these prices.

The real tell will be what they do with production and supply next year when their Smyrna, Tennessee plant is up and running. That's going to really allow them to expand supply. If they don't, then you will have been proven correct.
