I use to use Avast antivirus on Win98 and ME machines, it was the only one that I could find that will run on those older systems.

Looks like Avast will now only work on Win2000 or newer.

I never tried this, I don't see how new it is.

A few days ago, I too received a call from a guy telling me my computer was infected. He said that he could walk me through the necessary steps to clean up the computer. I might add, he had a foreign accent, so it's a real possible that he was outside of the U.S.

I gave him the "third degree" and he hung up on me.

One can never be to careful in this world.
