We're partly in agreement: the existence of a creator doesn't imply anything about any particular religion. There could be a creator or creators. But as to their nature we would know nothing. As Rick Perry demonstrated, praying to these creators for rain in Texas isn't a productive exercise, assuming they even exist.

Btw, I doubt the universe is an accident personally, as do many scientists I know. But that doesn't mean there was a god. The universe could be both godless and not an accident. Who knows. The whole thing is quite miraculous. Even if given an answer it may well be beyond any human mind. Crack a book on modern cosmology and quantum physics and you'll see what I mean. Reality is pretty magical.

I also agree with you about society's need for moral value. Although you don't need a god for that. I've been always struck how societies with large number of atheists (Japan and Finland come to mind) how moral and well-behaved the people are. Generally I've seen more problems of immorality in much more religious countries, such as the US and Pakistan, to name two.

But that's another argument ;}
