a person may be too physically weak to perform the act themselves. I believe the evolution of this discussion is for the purpose of preparing people for mass euthanization. The idea of a doctor assisting merely lends false credibility to their argument.

i agree one of the last stages of dying is when they stop eating, drinking water. it is a painless way to pass on.
