The stock may tumble but SYQT will be out of business.

Remember:
IOM has deep pockets, SYQT has no pants !!!

Rocky, 8000 drives sent to CompUsa. Don't any OEMs want it?

BTW, Iomega ships that many drives every 6 hours, each day, every day.

I'm sure right now Iomega is having a special meeting in order to address this "challenge".

Keep dreamin Rock.

Rocky:

With the high volume of Jaz that IOM makes they will experience significant cost saving through economies of scale. IOM will continue to experience cost savings as they manufacture more and more Jaz(along with Jaz2, Zip, ZipPlus ect). They more you make-the less it costs for each unit.

Unfortunately for SYQT, they are not in that position. They are constantly changing their product line-with none of the new products being compatible with existing lines. SYQT will experience huge ramp up costs-and they have no $$$ to pay for this. And at $199 for the drive and $33 a disk-margins have to be minimal. You cant possibly believe that SYQT can manufacture products less expensively than IOM can you??

The price of Jaz will come down due to manufacturing cost savings. I am certainly not worried about IOM making their earnings. At least they have some!!

The only thing SYQT has going for it, is as they continue to print shares, their EPS loss gets less and less. Too bad they still lose millions each quarter.

Expecting a low margin, low quantity product to turn this company around is ridiculous.

All IMO

you know this because you've been so accurate in the past? Would it scare you to think that KE might have mentioned 10million as the goal to reach Q4 expectations? Everything else might just be gravy....look between the lines on this and your beloved SYQT.

Correct me if I'm wrong -- did you say Syquest insiders are selling in order to gain a point or so before there stock takes off? And that would make you feel good as an investor?

keep shorting, and remember to turn out the lights.

This is the tricky part, IOM will likely to reduce the price for Jaz media (because price diff is so big). If the difference is less than 20% then IOM will easily preserve the market share since it has a nice install base. But in any way, this will hurt IOM's GM in the forseeable future. IOM must introduce more new ideas and high profit products like Clik to maintain its margin. let's see if (a medium size if :o) IOM can extends its miracle in FY98.

Good Luck
