No one does.>> I don't think I know everything, so don't put words in my mouth, but I do think liberals have more correct answers than conservatives. As a group. Groups think better than individuals. But I know it is grating, but don't know how one avoids that. The main reason we are a stupid society is because we do not insist on education like the Jews and Japanese do. Tejek our society has become anti intellectual. That is why the Teapers can dominate. People need to understand that minds are developed. We are not naturally born with the gift for thinking (conservatives do not seem to know that). I am an old man just passing on what I have learned over my lifetime. Nothing more. And I remembrt clearly what it is to be ignorant. When I was young I had no realistic idea of the world at all. My mental vision was pretty small. I didn't even know the difference in the two parties or Nixon and JFK. Two things: 1) I not only don't feel I have all the answers, I think we are all much more ignorant than any of us knows. I am in the mud if ignorance struggling like everyone else. But there are a few things we can know and we do not need to make it worse by not trying to understand them, like evolution and limits to grwoth and global warming. Sort of important. Look at every major issue of the last century. In every case it was the liberals who pointed out the problems from racism, New Deal to stupid wars and environmental damage. I didn't see any conservatives or even moderates lead in those issues. We all know different stuff and think in different ways. So we need to combine our knowlege. Is a mathematician superior to an artist? I don't think so. I believe in the socratic method. If you think I have it wrong show me where. In fact I believe the right brain sees the larger picture yet our culture bases everything on the left brain functioning. 2) You tell me how we impress on people that minds must be developed without saying it. I work with people who have every ability to educate their kids yet do not impress on them the importance. The kids get married right after high school and that is it. They find me grating too! That is a tragedy to both to the kids and society. Thinking is like exercising. It takes conditioning.
