Kenneth, WASHINGTON -- Half a year after Florida Gov. Rick Scott rejected $2.4 billion in federal money to help build high-speed rail structures inside his state, the cash has been sent to other portions of the country.

How could a politician be so stupid in rejection of $2.4 billion of federal money to his state. Just think how the money could produce additional jobs for his constituents. Maybe the voters will get rid of him next election.

Politically speaking, you reward your friends and punish your enemies! However, you will not hear any politician outwardly making such a statement. However, do such to your own state constituents is very, very rare.

Does Florida as a State Not Need Or Want High Speed Rail

Perhaps Florida doesn't want to see Florida's beauty decimated with a high speed rail system as we have witnessed in Northern Virginia

WMATA, Metro, has done little if anything in the Washington D.C. area to relieve traffic vehicle congestion as it was touted to do when it was a glimmer and being built. The inner Northern Virginia suburbs have been being torn apart for almost two years now in the final phase of getting rail from Washington, D.C. to Dulles airport and eventually West along Harry Byrd Highway toward Leesburg, Va.

The rail has been opposed by citizens who wanted it underground rather than above ground as it appears it is now being designed to be. The suburbs that were once beautiful country are gradually being destroyed as people move further and further away from the urban congestion seeking the peace an quiet of the country. Some commute as much as 2 hours to get from their home in W.Va. or further out in Virginia into D.C.

The main purpose has been to get the Federal government into Washington to work for the Federal Government while the workers live in the inner and outer suburbs. A secondary purpose now is to get passengers to and from Dulles Airport---------a function now fulfilled by taxi drivers, limousine drivers.

Considering what we have experienced in Northern Virginia I believe that the Governor of Florida is a very wise man---. mj
