Thank you Howard for the briefing summary. I agree with your comment about Chip. Many of us are anxiously awaiting for these partnership announcements or any other CREAF related news and it is very annoying to go through these personal and antagonistic messages, that is what e-mail is for.

I hope these partnership announcements appear soon.

You da man Howard. Thanks for being there.

I agree with you. I knew it was coming. CREAF is the way. Use your old speakers, upgrade a $1000 computer, it doesn't matter. CREAF is bringing the experience to the people. I love it.

It's a difference between traders and investors, Chip himself said he was a trader, and as I see it, this thread is made up of investors. Just like black and white.

I look forward to hearing about today's seminar. Heck, I wish I was there, I'd like to meet Sim myself. He sounds like a cool guy.

Long CREAF,

JP

Howard, thanks for the summary. I have been a silent reader of this thread and agree with you that the CHIP vs. others dialogue did not add value. I saw the announcement that Creaf is introducing the DVD-RAM drive and was excited about it until I read this other announcement from the DVD+RW group (HP, Sony, Mitsubishi, Philips, Ricoh and Yamaha) on their version which is different from the RAM version, I got very disappointed, especially I am also long on some DD stocks which will be hurt also in the long run. Anyone care to comment?

"My perception of the new real sound concept is that it just
doesn't get any better than that and, as Mr. Sim emphasized, I
feel strongly that the new "Environmental Sound" product will
establish the forthcoming 7th generation sound standard for
the PC industry. Mr. Sim affirmed his dedication to marketing
to the masses, emphasizing that this new "Environmetnal
Sound" concept is the dawn of a whole new era of PC sound
production whereby Creaf will continue to show the world
that, after initiating the standard for the last 6 generations of
PC sound production, they are still the industry leader and will
be affordably priced so that everyone can enjoy it and upgrade
their existing computers, even the new $1000 basic computers.
The new sound chip has the equivalent of over 2 million
transisters (more than the Pentium processor), has virtual
scaling capabilities, and allows the budget minded user to
recycle older speakers as phase-in peripheral units in
conjunction with new speaker upgrades. "

I would agree and say that the new Emu 10k1 chip is significant to Creative because it puts them in a position to be the king in PC audio including professional applications. Question is, how much is this thing, and will they do a good job when they release it? Technically, they screwed up with the existing AWE series. There is no need to respond with sales figures, but if they had done the job right there would be only a few other viable soundcard companies in existance.

Back from COMDEX

Caught the red eye (literally, I'm afraid) this morning.

Thanks to Howard, I do not have to write a full report of Monday's 4:00 P.M. briefing. I'll just add a couple of comments.

<<I, along with most everyone in the room, was "wowed" by what I heard>>

When it came to the Q&A portion of the 4:00 pm briefing, some bozo asked Sim, in referring to the SOUNDBLASTER LIVE!, whether Sim could seriously expect people to run out and purchase seven (7) speakers to complete this system. I already thought about this myself, but believed that Sim knew what he was doing. And you could sense as Sim began his response that he was fully prepared for such a question. He basically told this non-believer that yes, he fully expects people to want and to purchase the seven speakers. And, he alluded to selling them in a kit for what he called a "mass market price". While grinning from ear to ear, he reminded everyone in the room of his recent DVD pricing scheme and said that we should expect no less with SOund Blaster LIVE!

I have not heard from anyone in Las Vegas since I have been back, so I do not know if anythingelse was revealed at today's briefing.

Later.
