So, the way I see it is that you've got 5 or 6 hours of free time on your hands. You can stay inside the house and fret over any possible damage to your property, or you can use that time to be productive.

Wake the eldest kid up and head on over to New Canaan. Purloin their new scoreboard and tuck it safely away somewhere in Westport. After the storm passes, people in New Canaan will just presume that Irene ate their new scoreboard. After a brief period of time (for plausible deniability), you can install the new scoreboard in Westport, claiming that you bought it from a salvage yard for pennies on the dollar... You get the drift...
