Great post except for this nonsense.

You want to end government as we know it I suspect - those who push for Perry do.

You have spent too much time in the protected land of the far left and have not read the discussions conducted in other boards - boards were people "do not want to end government as we know it".

That is the kind of crap statement that is below anyone smart enough to realize the budget and deficit is the issue of the day.

Of interest - do you think Obama gives a GD about the deficit other than he now knows he has to pay lip service to it to get his sorry butt reelected?

Bob

Some numbers of interest:

Monthly payroll budget for the federal government:
Year # of Employees Dollar Amount
1992 - 3,046,873 Not available
1995 2,895,275 $9.7B
1999 2,799,100 $10.4B
2003 2,717,080 $12.7B
2007 2,730,050 $14.4B
2009 2,823,777 $15.1B

The number of federal employees has been relatively flat to down for 19 years while there has been a steady increase in the average pay for federal employees.

It certainly does appear that both parties are have been guilty of increasing spending. But which party is likely to decrease spending in the future?

You want to end government as we know it I suspect - those who push for Perry do. But I want my government to protect our food source for instance that is increasing coming from foreign producers. I want my government to be sure airplanes safely. I want my government to provide a safe transportation system that crosses state lines in a coordinated way. I like much of what government does in making society better. I am not afraid of government.

Why such a binary argument, Steve? Was government not able to do all these good things ten years ago, when it spent $2 Trillion a year instead of $4 Trillion? Why do efforts to cut government back to $3 Trillion sound to you like they mean 'end government as we know it'?

<You want to end government as we know it >

Obamacare already did this.
