There is nothing in free trade agreements that says we do not have tariff.

free trade doesn't need agreements.

Free trade has been accomplished through free trade agreements.

no it hasn't. free trade agreements are negotiated by people who don't understand what free trade is.

These are legal treaties between nations. Those that do not abide by the treaty or do not agree to sign an agreement are still on the tariff. In fact the agreements allow tariffs between countries but these are balanced so that there is no protectionism, that is both countries use them or claim to use them so that the same balance is there.

the essence of all trade agreements is protectionism, or there would be no need for an agreement. 'balanced' simply means equal economic erosion on both sides..

This makes the tariff only a revenue source with little to no protection to our economy.

economies need to be free to operate optimally. protectionism should be rejected with vigor.

To simply strip away all tariffs as you seem to think wise would cause such a calamity I suspect you would end up starving in the street and in full agreement with me.

to answer this, please see my post to Sidney..

in light of what experts in austrian economics say in the snippet of that article, can you explain how eliminating tariffs would cause any calamity?
