I ran out of editing time on the last post.

Correction: The statistic (over 2 million murders) should have been (over 12,000 murders).

OneLess, > That is not a definition of mainstream.

It is when the religion itself calls for a pilgrimage to Mecca and requires that prayers be directed there.

I really don't know what is considered "mainstream Islam." Perhaps the modern version that Muslims in the Western world practice could and should be considered as such.

But I'm sorry to say that Muslims living in the Western world are a minority compared to those living in the Middle East and central Asia.

> Mainstream thinking and action is what can be attributed to the conduct and attitudes of the general public which is far from the ideals of those institutions.

The general public is incredibly diverse in cultural backgrounds and opinions. How can you possibly speak for all of them?

The truth is that you can't. All you can do is believe in what you believe in and try to influence those around you.

It's enough for me that you condemn the practice of honor killings. But really, accusing others of anti-Muslim prejudice is pretty rich when you can't even educate them properly on what really is "mainstream Islam."

Because without such a definition, all people will have are prejudices.
