The key to the problem is that the free market does not work for health care.
.
I think that it is worthwhile to look at medical procedures that are not covered by insurance. This is an area that has a free market. Some examples would be LASIK surgery and cosmetic surgeries such as.....boob jobs. Without doing a formal study, I do know that LASIK surgery costs about 1/10th what it did 10 years ago. There are probably quite a few conclusions that can be drawn from this, but I think that it cannot be ignored.

<<<<<America has many more bypasses, cesarean sections, and the latest and most expensive drugs compared to other advanced countries, and little to show for it. >>>>>>

And getting worse. We have fallen to 41st in infant mortality. An absolute dismal number given the money we spend and our position in the world.

I have heard from many old time doctors that the cost of health care start to go up when the gov got involved .

Remember when a doctor would come to your house for 10 bucks

I agree with this that health care and the free market are ill matched. After BCB gets his football fix ( I identify and and am going to join him lets see if we can discuss this rationally. Later.
