This assumes biological facts not in evidence---is Ebony adaptive to plantation environments (will disease proliferate there etc.) What is its growth rate ?

Also do the economics of Ebony plantations make good sense (as opposed to wild harvesting)? (availabilty of suitable tropical land etc.)

Not a slam dunk by any means. Agree?

If ebony gets expensive enough, landowners will plant it .... like they do trees in this country. Deforestation is a problem where land ownership isn't protected.
