all i meant to say was that it takes less gold to buy things, but more dollars. if you consider gold to be money (many don't accept this proposition, of course), then we are in deflation and money/gold is very valuable. the reverse is true for currency. they are the obverse sides of the same coin, no pun intended.

some good news - there shall not be usa default for some time, as per my long time contention, that the first to line up against the wall in any team usa default could be anyone, but the second to line up against the wall would invariably be for the people by the people to the advantage of the usual ruling elite

because as when when america defaults on any foreigner, the domestic worth of same t-bills even if not defaulted on would end up worthless given the immediate currency crash

Who owns America? Hint: It's not China
Editor's Note: The following piece comes from Global Post, which provides excellent coverage of world news - important, moving and odd.

Truth is elusive. But it's a good thing we have math.

Our friends at Business Insider know this, and put those two principles to work today in this excellent and highly informative little slideshow, made even more timely by the ongoing talks in Washington, D.C. aimed at staving off a U.S. debt default.

...

So America owes foreigners about $4.5 trillion in debt. But America owes America $9.8 trillion.

do not know what is going on but just stepped into the breach five times to buy london gold

at hkd 14,688, 14,622, 14,692, 14,700, and 14,689 per troy

nice thing about gold these days, mistakes get bailed out, errors are self correcting, redemption is automatic, and salvation is a matter of course

There was a fat finger trade in Kospi futures (BIG error) and the story is going around that the person concerned is buying HSI and SENSEX against it….

Seems a little tenuous to me, but the KOSPI trade was definitely there (if you have Bloomberg, hit up KMZ1 Index GIP <GO> - you may have to move the graph left as the last print is off the map….)
