If that happens it'll be due to a Euro crash so I can see gold getting a bid during that process as well. However, a stronger dollar would allow for a decent consolidation period in gold and for the most part would be welcomed at least by myself.

Was noticing this $USD breakout also, my charts:

Of course it can be argued that the $USDollar is currently "winning" by just not sinking quite as fast as the other currencies. According to the following chart of the $USD versus $GOLD, it looks like maybe the dollar can bounce up 10% to 20% or so relative to gold before the next breakdown (or breakout) after the coming B-Band pinch:
