Not really.

My maternal ancestors walked across the land bridge from Siberia and met and married my paternal ancestors who sailed west from Europe.

They converted to Catholicism, married in the Catholic church, lived in houses, farmed, baptised their children, were buried in Catholic cemetaries.

I am proud to be American. No hyphens whatsoever.
