He writes well ... So did Hitler.. And so does Chomsky.. hit the targets in that piece with more deadly accuracy than any JDAM I think his analytical GPS signal is jammed.. His "JDAM" is now merely a "Dumb Bomb".. The bottom line is that the "war on terror" is a catch phrase for fighting religious militancy/extremism that was beginning to (and may still) seize control over the Islamic religion. Al Qaida may just be the biggest of the "facilitators" of militant Jihad, but it was a critical organization that had to be crushed and it's leadership destroyed. One has to understand the mindset of the enemy we're fighting. They don't think like we do, according to secular logic. No.. they see that God is on their side and that they cannot lose. So it was critical to prove them wrong and undermine their ability to proclaim that Allah was bringing them victory. If we failed to confront the threat with military force, they would be able to continue their propaganda and recruit even more young men and women. As for Iraq, it's pretty simple. The terms of the cease-fire were violated and ripped up for over 5 years. Saddam was given 90 days to coming into full compliance or face ouster. He chose incorrectly. But I do think the neo-cons have a point in that attempting to be democratic change to Iraq would impact every one of it's neighboring states. Iraq is literally the "keystone" country in that region.
