First question is what work would they do?

The same as threader Paul V. NONE

Would unions object?

Who cares?

There should be a supervisor who mentors or counsels each participant.

I can supervise myself.

The main objective is to get the participant out of the program and into a real job.

This is a make believe job? Can I just pretend to get up the morning, and pretend to drive to work?

Geesh...........a pretend job, just like threader Paul V.

If we decide to try it I would start with a small pilot program for five months.

No thanks, I'm not interesting in flying. Too much ear pressure.

Joe, First question is what work would they do? I would have each individual applying for unemployment take a aptitude battery of test in order to see how his aptitude squares with similar individuals working in various occupations. Additionally, they would be required to take a skill test to measure their skill sets in various occupations. I believe that many individuals have been mis-matched according to their skills and could be more effective in other occupations. After taking these tests the individual would be required to perform the appropriate length of service until they have concluded their unemployment.

The purpose of this program would be as previously stated: It would enable the individual to maintain or expand his skill sets, not allow him/her to freeload off the system, maintain a living plus maintain, build their self-esteem from their accomplishments, and serve the community.

Would unions object? This program could become a partnership with the unions or non-unions as a possible way that individuals could develop or maintain the skill sets necessary for employment, demonstrate and allow individuals to network with others.

There should be a supervisor who mentors or counsels each participant. Mentors, counsels, and/or shadow the individual as they retrain. Partnerships could be made with technical schools, GED schools, college, etc.

The main objective is to get the participant out of the program and into a real job. Agree!!!!

If we decide to try it I would start with a small pilot program for five months. Subject to expansion if more time is needed.
