Don't take it personally, cheerleader. You deserved it considering how you were blocking the flow of quality data with the blunt way you were waving your clumsy wit around. Plus you were flat-out wrong on the cash flow hedges, among other things. Cheerleading without showing any skin does that to ya.

Look, ever since the June quarter, one of the most important questions that any disk drive investor had to answer was what was SEG going to do with 50 or so million of disk drive capacity as more competition ate into the margins of its franchise. Instead of participating in that process you were more interested in the non-essentials. Some of us hunkered down and when we found the data points we were looking for a few months ago, we stayed faithful to the data that showed the overcapacity in the industry. What were you doing? Buying options? Tell me again about wishing.

Stay in school.

***OFF TOPIC***Master Cheerleader, ignore these >geniuses< that try to insult you. When you have amassed your fortune, you can hire them to clean the toilets.

Cleanliness is next to godliness.

Lawrence, Seems like H&Q wants to put little more downside on QNTM. Personally, I also wonder why they should be going after what appears to be the strongest of the HDD group. I wish these downgrades were acompanied by a reason. It is an amazing process to watch these companies and see how little they seem to trade on the same realities of other sectors. Personally, I've been waiting for a crash in PC stocks as their margins get more narrow. Some how they continue to hold up.

But, as usual it would have been more informative of H&Q to make their downgrade at $42.

from briefing.com

09:28 ET Disk-Drive Stocks: Hambrecht & Quist downgrades HMT Technology (HMTT), Read-Rite (RDRT), and Quantum (QNTM) to "hold" from "buy."

09:08 ET Seagate Technology (SEG) 24 5/16: --UPDATE-- Bear Stearns removes stk from its "recommended list" and lowers its FY99 forecast to $2.50 from $2.91, or -14%.

08:34 ET Seagate Technology Inc. (SEG) 24 5/16: Issue indicated 3 pts lower on news the disk-drive maker expects to be only "marginally profitable" in the 2nd qtr due to continued weakness in demand for high-performance products as well as margin pressure. Wall Street was expecting Q2 earnings of $0.24.

Lawrence -

I hope you didn't take my "cheerleader" comment in the wrong way. I was actually looking for advice(to buy more) and comfort(for the shares I own).

Did you actually buy more today? pretty tempting at current levels.

FWIW, I personally have gotten good info from both you and Gus.

Come on boys, enjoy!
