The other big worry is more of a scare tactic than a valid concern. Pipelines can leak. But to hear the anti-Keystone crowd tell it, you would think this one is about to be connected to kitchen sinks and lawn sprinklers from coast to coast. The fear-mongering about aquifers being polluted and wildlife habitat destroyed has no basis in reality. On the contrary, plans call for a state-of-the-art system, subject to rigorous inspections. America already has oil and gas pipelines crisscrossing the country and the Canadian border. This one, an expansion of a pipeline that already runs to downstate Illinois, will be built to a high safety standard.

All lies. The pipeline is definitely hooked up to everyone's kitchen sink and lawn sprinklers.....and baby bottles too. How do I know? God told me.

Chicago Tribune's take on this:

Herein, lies a huge problem for your average citizen just that wants the truth.........That opinion is written by the Trib that is well known to be a conservative paper. Although they endorsed Obama, their first D in about 100 years.

Then there are the left/liberal/progressive outlets who say that the US won't benefit from the oil. That companies like Valero will be exporting it to markets like China and S.America....

Droitsch said Keystone XL's opponents are much more educated and savvy about pipeline issues now that the permit process is moving into its fourth year. They plan to highlight evidence that they say shows the pipeline could lead oil companies to raise gasoline prices in the Midwest and export Canadian diluted bitumen to China instead of keeping it in the United States.

"Those economic issues, the ones about gas prices, energy security and whether the crude stays here, are of greatest concern to Americans," Droitsch said.

So, what is your average person/voter to think and do? I don't have an answer to this....I can hear it now if Obama denies them: R's screaming from the top of their lungs: THOUSANDS OF JOBS LOST!!! Bachman: I told you we can get $2.00/gal gasoline!!!!!

Very hard.....
