No part of my evaluation is based on that. We are evaluated by classroom visits- and of course by the number of parental complaints (all I get are compliments) and our participation in all the things we are supposed to participate in (attendance at Back to School Night, faculty and staff meetings, extracurricular duties- which are required, etc). I would not mind being evaluated on my pass rate, as it's very good, but I can understand why most teachers don't want to be. Most are not willing to bribe their students to do well on the CST. The problem with the CST is that there is no incentive for students to do their best, or even do anything- and some students just don't care. Many of them, actually. I care about our school, and I want to know how my students are doing, so I offer burger meals, delivered to school, for any students who scores "advanced" , or any students who progress from one level to another. But it costs a lot of money, and most people probably don't want to do that. I think grades should actually be heavily linked to CST scores- but I doubt that will happen.
