Didn't gas prices rise only several days after President Obama releasing the reserves?

I don't understand the relation between releasing of gas from the reserves and Katrina since Katrina is a localized event whereas gas prices affect us all. Did he do so thinking that each one of us would save some money to fill up our gas tanks and donate that saving for Katrina relief? And do you seriously think that with two oilmen at the top of the Bush WH, a serious effort was made towards lowering oil prices?

And by the way tonto, I am just not curious but also anxious to know what you are seeing today about employment picking up in the construction industry. I think it really needs to pick up on a solid footing and it will not until we see a pickup in the housing industry, since that is what provides most of the funding. I am also wondering why US engineering firms are not getting more involved with the countries where construction is booming such as in India and China. All that design work can be done here in the US with US labor.

But in the meantime, while the US banking/housing industry staggers to a firm footed recovery, it is worthwhile to tax not only the rich but also the 80% employed folks to fund the "infrastructure re build/repair" plan that Obama is proposing. I always kept wondering why more funds were not allocated to this area in the original stimulus to begin with.
