you know I feel a little bad about that AD disappearance. of course every trader (part time or not) lives and dies by his own calls but once in a while I would suggest that he bump up his trading size since his [real time posted here] profitable trades were uncanny... almost all made at least some money and his ability to find the best outs was incredible over a long period of time. Then he finally did bump it up at the end only to leave after the setback you mentioned. Could have just been due to fact he hardly ever got a chance to feel the frustration of a defeat (not my problem!) but I don’t think so as he seemed much disciplined.

I agree with all we should use this forum more here to get ideas going and get the board churning again. anyway, fwiw so I'm on record I like(d) the AAPL short. though TA wise no doubt you are right. In brief because:
1) I like the 'chink in the armor 'approach... the story noted also caught my eye. Rare to hear ANY news of AAPL softness. tip of iceberg?
2) when perfection has been priced in when any sell off starts a lot of folks lock it in fast causing shares to fall as no one wants to ride it down when they could have locked.
3) Ghoulish though it sounds jobs is obviously in a very poor way. It is sad and horrible but the market is a brutal place and while the company and he have done an excellent job with transition details it could rattle the shares badly if the thought that the vision impetus just isn’t there anymore.
4) probably most important for long haul: mucho very well capitalized competition in and entering their space.. yes they lead it but every large tech and their brother is champing at the bit to grab share. At some point it’s a just a screen with apps ;-)
3) weak fundies for rest of market so far aapl immune. I also expect retail to stay soft.

cons: always hard to short superstar story stocks sometimes they take on a life of their own and can turn a short squeeze into a truly agonizing event hence my inability to pull trigger plus I dont have enough in wait to make this a play 'on the side.'
