I think the two biggest obstacles are being overcome. The first: the denial that something bad was perpetrated on them by other Americans The second: who has made this happen? There were fits and starts to this before, but it never went anywhere. People, in my view, needed a lot of time to digest the reality that the USA preached to them for years (we're the best, the freest, the richest, the fairest, the strongest, etc.) has been co-opted once again. Years of unemployment, food stamps, lack of adequate medical care, the realization that they were now among the poor (or poorer) and more hunger and long term frustration have served to break down some of the denial. The protests centered on WS are helping many to put their finger on the root causes because they are starting to listen to others who've broken through their own barriers. People are angry (I saw that at the caucuses two years ago) and the pact they thought they had with Obama to fix things (which he promised over and over) did not happen. And, I think, more and more are realizing (or going to realize) that much of the media is in on the fix.
