Re: What I found odd was the outpouring of sympathy for the "au pair"

Ditto. This message is definitely flame bait: I've got to wonder if race was a factor in sympathy of the au pair and lack of it for Eappen family. Au pair is as white as can be. Baby Mathew shared his father's dark (Indian?) complexion. So here's the question, don't flame me yet: could it be the au pair supporters thought, wow, this could be my daughter, but that certainly could not be my baby? I can't help but think this every time I saw an au pair fan club member on TV news gush over how she is free, and then throw in something in passing about feeling sorry about the baby...it always sounded like big time crocodile tears to me.

Before you answer, consider if the baby was white and the au pair wasn't. I think she'd be making license plates and we'd be discussing 3Com right now, don't you?
