Mark: I don't understand this market reaction either. This seems like a perfect opportunity to trade AMTX at ~$20 and play Westell at ~$18.5. Until today most would have taken .9 shares of WSTL for every share of AMTX. You can now get ~1.1 shares of Westell for every AMTX share. For those long term AMTX holders that believe in the AMTX technology, Westell is going to build its solution around that technology. The only thing Westell doesn't get are the patents. Am I missing something here?... until later.

[Re: westell action]

Why do you say that WSTL gets AMTX ADSL contracts?? Wouldn't TI be getting those contracts if the deal goes through?? The way I see it, WSTL has a major risk now. WSTL has to have DMT solution to win major contracts. With AMTX, they would have owned one and thus, had control. Now, if the "Strategic Partnership" doesn't turn out to be all its cracked up to be, WSTL would be in a bad situation. Heck, I am already WAYYYYY confused by the collage of so called "partnerships" in this market. Its like incest. Also, consider the possibility of AMTX/TI/ALA bidding for GTE DMT. AMTX has "agreement" with ALA as well!! All being said, I was probably one of many shorting WSTL soon after the open. 10% in a few hours aint shabby.

(picking back through the barrage...)

<here's a thought: COMS buys WSTL. the TXN/AMTX-WSTL/USRX/COMS-SIE team vs. the ALA-CSCO team vs. the AWRE-ADI-ASND team vs. ORCTF-Fujitsu.>

With continuing consolidation, I'm thinking that PAIR has yet to introduce it's Falcon chip, and wondering if LU will let this DSP party go without an offering. bill c., whaddya think the chances we'll see a LU-PAIR?

And I haven't seen any answer or speculation yet - but what all does TXN GET for $400MM? Are Cioffi et al now signed onto the TXN payroll? As I made the point earlier, if TXN DOESN'T get the engineering talent for future ADSL incarnations, then they REALLY overpaid.
