Vanni:

Why for the minor downward revisions and a downgrade on a recommendation but for nothing like what happend to SEG, WDC, and their suppliers, was QNTM beaten harsher than SEG and WDC today and yestterday?

Furthermore, QNTM beat the earnings estimates last month while its competitors could not meet the estimates. What's your gut feeling?
How far you think QNTM may drop? I had thought SEG would drop to $15 and QNTM to $20, although QNTM did not announce yet any problem about meeting the earnings estimates.

Thanks in advance.

Sankar

So it's a clean sweep. Is there anything you are bullish on right now?

BTW this is not, nor is it intended to be flammable. I'm genuinely interested.

<<Re: Just for the record. I'm not "bullish on QNTM.">>

Vanni: I thought you were bullish because of some of the comments like the one below (from the SEG thread). Anyhow, if you are not bullish at least you are not bearish on qntm.

My guess would be, and it is only a guess, that given the hugeness of the downward revisions, this is a lot more than just a minor problem that will go away in a quarter or two. But how can I say? Forced to predict, I would say these stocks (QNTM aside) won't go anywhere significant for three to six months, and may start to regroup during the summer or fall. The sector could be all patched up in 1999, and then WDC and SEG could move into the 30s or even higher. Anyone cutting and pasting this out six months from now to show how stupid I am please include this: this is only a guess since there are too many variables that are hard to predict.

For now, though, stay away from these stocks, other than QNTM.Sell 'em if you have 'em, take your losses and put you money to better use elsewhere
