<Are you British? You sound like somebody's grandmother wagging
your finger at all of us while explaining to us the basics
of capitalism.>

It appears that someone has to. The point the really gets to me is the fact that we all know that these companies are for profit entitites. MSFT has bested everyone in the list that you and Charles mentioned (that is within MSFT's target industries).

Your lesson in capitalism is that publicly traded software companies don't get paid for innovation, they get paid for software sales. Without even arguing who is innovative and who is not, the technically orientated personalities give me the impression that MSFT is somehow subpar if they don't come up with these ideas first. I suggest that you examine MSFT's valuation and compare it each and every company that you would consider "innovative". There are tens of millions of individuals and companies that disagree with your assertion, and this disagrement is factored into MSFT's share price.

PS

The programmer types on this thread are actually complaining at what MSFT has innovated, when I am sure you mean invented. MSFT is extremely innovative, look what they have done with everyone else's ideas.
