"Look at what is happening in the ME"
Obama's foreign policy sets the record for wars by a Peace Prize winner, and makes Paul's foreign policy most attractive. It's too bad we don't have separate presidents for foreign and domestic affairs.

Here's our latest adventure, 2 versions. Tehran's is pretty funny. Retro Cold War style.

US denies interest in Uganda oil

THE US on Monday denied that its renewed interest in Uganda is a strategy to get hold of the newly found oil in the country.

The US government has announced that it will deploy troops to help Uganda fight the rebels of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) who are currently in the Central African Republic

Mary, I respect your thinking a great deal, but I would quibble with a few of your assertions below.

<<Hank Paulsen was the true hero in preventing the total collapse of the global financial system. The big mistake he made was in not asking the Banks anything in return. >>

This sentence confuses me. Hank Paulson was CEO of Goldman Sachs and as responsible for the collapse as anyone?

<<As far as Obama is concerned, he did what any super smart person would have done in that same situation. Ask Bill Clinton if he would have done anything differently.>>

Bill Clinton was responsible for over turning Glass Steagall and for overturning regulations against trading deriviatives.

<<As far as Obama campaign promises is concerned, he delivered big time. Look at what is happening in the ME. All the dictators are gone or on their way out. Obama is achieving our foreign policy objectives without getting our own people killed and without spending tons of money. He allowed our NATO allies to do what they are set up to do but all under US command. >>

I think the events in the ME are organic. I don't know what we did exactly? They are the result of modern technology allowing people to communicate with each other. They started in Yemen and moved on. We had little to do with it, IMO.

I do give Obama credit for Lybia, but that was really started by Bernard -Henry levi convinicing Sarkozy to rescue the trapped Lybians and then our own Susan Rice, Hillary Clinton and one other women convincing Obama to get aboard.

<<Whether you know it or not, we now have the respect of the global community with the possible exception of Israel. Israel is between a rock and the hard place. They are fighting for their existence but unfortunately their interest are now not exactly lined up with our interests. This is a real problem for Obama. We have commitments to protect Israel from extinction and he will keep those commitments but he will not do so by going to war with Iran and other enemies of Iran that American neoconservatives are looking to do.

<<Obama has delivered but there are many in this country who can't see it. They want some radical Barry Goldwater type of solution for the far left.>>

The far left and the far right are as different as astronomy an astrology.

People often vilify the far left and I always ask what are the crazy ideas on the far left you object to?. I cannot remember even one viable response. The far left is simply way beyond most people's thinking, but the ideas are sound e.g the far left understands the limits of growth, the folly of nationalism and the need for a world government to be formed eventually for our survival; or it anticipates the human singularity, or the crimes of our military industriall complex.

A good reading of Noam Chomsky, Bertrand Russell, Einstein or Linus Pauling is representative of the far left. Big difference between those folks and anyone on the far right. Chomsky's work in linquistics was as revolutionary as Einstein's relativity in that he showed the world that language has a genetic basis. No one believed that at the time. The rest of those folks had equal accomlishments. They have a depth of reasoning few humans have ever acheived.

The far right has no big thinkers that I know of.

The far left simply attacks dogmas which most people cannot conceive of as being wrong.
