Thursday November 20, 8:30 am Eastern Time Company Press Release SOURCE: DSC Communications CorporationUnisource Signs Frame Agreement With DSC Airspan, DSC's Wireless Fixed Access System, Selected in International Tender DALLAS, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- DSC Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: DIGI - news) announced today that it has signed a frame agreement with the Unisource shareholders for the supply of DSC's Airspan Wireless Fixed Access (WFA) system. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Airspan is a CDMA-based WFA system that offers a variety of services, including 64 Kbit/s telephony, Basic Rate ISDN and n x 64 Kbit/s Digital Leased Lines. Airspan architecture is point to multipoint, using a central radio site to connect customers within a radius of 15 km. Airspan is initially planned to be deployed in the rural areas of Sweden, and deployments to other Unisource parties are expected to follow shortly. Ake Sall, responsible for purchasing coordination among the Unisource shareholders, said: ''Airspan's high speech quality, premium services and wide area coverage make it ideally suited for economic provision of advanced telecommunications services in the rural areas of Sweden. The system is also very flexible, offering us the ability to deliver advanced services to our customers as the need arises without the time and expense associated with traditional infrastructure upgrades.''
