I see the epicure has already disagreed with this. It's silly even in the context you offered it. Let me state my argument a different way. Many make the point about the entire financial services industry, an institutional argument. You didn't make that argument. You made a personal argument about Corzine, that he had done some sort of demonstrably criminal deed. My point is that we don't know that yet. There are more than a few alternative interpretations. Did he over play his investment positions in European sovereign bonds? Definitely yes? Was that hubris? Definitely yes. Will lots of people suffer from that even though it's definitely not Lehman and doesn't appear to have a widespread effect? Of course. But was it criminal? I don't know. And I'm not ready to presume such until I see matters a bit more clearly. The purpose of my "dropping" the 99% is that these folks are tired of scoundrels and swindlers, politicians and their types doing stuff that does no good for the country and then taking refuge behind the due process of the law, which I believe is what you are saying about this person who couldn't keep his job in a Blue state. Well, I'm not sure what this has to do with the MFGlobal situation. He lost the NJ governor's race because he has about as much charisma as, well I don't know, pick the metaphorical figure who is defined by the absence of such. Corzine just doesn't have it. To the best of my knowledge he was a decent governor. Much better than his predecessor and much, much better than the subsequent governor, Chris Christie. Not as good at getting his way but much better for the state. I'm not going to be a part of any narrative which paints people as all bad or all good. That's what's happening to Corzine now. He was ok before, so he gets a good narrative; now he's not ok so he gets a bad narrative. And his history is rewritten to make the good appear bad. Not my game.
