I want to think outside the box and expose some of the hypocrisy of conservative and liberal narrow minded thinking. The only way to expand your horizons. These places weren't so out of reach to average income folks in the mid 1970's like they have been the past decade.. Reaganomics disproportionately benefited many of these liberal areas since that is where more productive, educated innovators live. Also environmentalism, and a mindset for open spaces and parks to enhance quality of life really took off plus anti growth restrictions making it next to impossible to building anymore tract subdivisions in these communities thus supply is greatly restrained... Of course the fact the terrain is never flat in these type of places like in the large Texas cities also helps constrain what can be developed. Oddly folks also want to be there now more than ever because the downtowns are eclectic, mom and pop stores still thrive and are usually Wal Mart free. So in many ways what the wingers call liberal progressive is actually a search for more simpler times..
