Eric, I haven't looked at utilities lately since I already owned 9 of them. I haven't thought about adding a new one, just continuing to reinvest dividends in the ones I own.

Your portfolio reminds me of my lottery tickets, I have 12 numbers and can't even match one of them. Ha! Ha!

You own 9, I own 9 and not a single match among them.

WPZ was a serious contender on my list though. I suppose I would lean heavily towards them if I were in the market for another company.

Most of those are Master Limited Partnerships which do not pay dividends. Who made up that chart? MLPs have interesting tax consequences if one is not careful, including taxes due within the IRA structure. There are generally no taxes on their distributions, but each distribution reduces your basis if in a taxable account. I own a just two MLP's at this time but in the past have had many more.

WPZ -3.5% AH after announcing a new 9M share stock offering, good for proceeds of $506.7M based on today's close. Unsurprisingly, Williams will use part of the proceeds to fund its $2.5B purchase of Caiman Midstream. The news comes just a few days after parent company Williams ( WMB) priced a 26M share offering, with plans to use the proceeds to help finance the Caiman deal.
