Paul,

Thanks for the post! Remember I use FA on long term investing and TA in my trading accounts! I'm sorry you can not read chart patterns, and I will admit that not all charts work, as all FA does not always work either! All I know is my trading accounts have made a pot full of money using charts since my good friend introduced them to me! I believe the money is how you keep score and I've had a winner for 6 out of 7 years and most all of those were in short position while we have been in a major bull run!

Paul, have you considered that TA may be self-fulfilling?

I agree that with you that in a pure world, 'it doesnt work', however if enough people think it does, and all follow the same trends, and all decide that a particular stock will move up, they will buy, and guess what happens to the stock price!
Of course, this is short term only.
I would also say that there are some indicators that can be used, short term, to make a better than random guess as to what will happen, for example, volume. But I dont know if that would count as TA.

Best argument I ever heard against TA was this.

I'll give you a stock chart, which I have cut in half. You tell me what happens next. Given that simple example, most people would agree, it cant be done.
Possibly another, real world argument against is, how come all you TA folks arent stinking rich, but stuck in front of a terminal instead?<ggg>

Lord, I am sure glad TA doesnt work. I just got TC2000 (charting program) for the 30 day free trial. And I cant figure out even how to get the damn thing started! Its installed. But thats it!
And it looks like every time you open it you have another charge, though I'm not sure.
You guys are going nuts. I'm glad I at least have my first 100 shares (bought at 113 pre split)so I can feel part of you!!!
