Do you really believe you can deport all the illegals who are in the country -- given the reality of our decadent political state along with the PC and public ignorance that prevails? Of course not; that would be impossible. Our government has allowed the situation to get totally out of hand by passively reinforcing the illegal invasion -- seemingly for political gain. It is our government that is the proximal cause of the illegal deluge – thanks to our crooked politicians -- and not the highly-motivated, work-seeking Mexican taking advantage of our national stupidity. Further, employers who knowingly hire illegals are equally guilty in the crime. Gingrich seems to be the only GOP candidate willing to recognize the realities of illegal immigration. The solution IMHO: (Generalizations that need refinement) 1) Close the door now and up the cost for illegal entry by sentencing them to hard labor -- building the fence for example -- followed by immediate deportation. Identified criminals would enjoy much longer "employment". Thereafter, double the previous sentence for subsequent entry-related arrests. 2) Ask illegals, who have been long-term residents (25 years and/or more), to register and be screened or felonious activity and review their intervening employment record. Those judged suitable should be issued permanent work visas. Seemingly this might exclude most criminal elements (MS-13, etc.) and provide useful information concerning employers who knowing take advantage of the situation; arrests of these intentional enablers is appropriate. 3) Thereafter all unregistered illegals, along with all unregistered dependents, would be fair game for deportation. This should motivate entire families to press for registration. Doesn't it seems a bit draconian to deport individuals, who have ever visited Mexico and have spent all their lives in America, to points unknown; I think so. How would you handle such cases?
